Pinpoint is a browser extension that turns a range of a video into a saved summary. This policy describes exactly what it stores, where, and who else sees it. It is written to match what the software actually does.
What Pinpoint stores
- Your pins. The video address, the channel and video title, the start and end points you marked, and the summary generated for that range — plus anything you add yourself, such as tags, a note or a renamed title.
- Your account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name and profile picture from Google. If you use Pinpoint without signing in, an anonymous account identifier is created so that usage limits can be applied. It is not linked to a name or an email address.
- Your credit history. Every credit granted, spent or refunded, so your balance can be explained to you.
- Illustrated cards that you generate, stored as image files.
What Pinpoint does not do
- It never downloads, copies, buffers or re-hosts video or audio. It reads the caption text of the range you marked, or passes the video's public address to the model so that the model fetches it.
- It does not track your browsing. The extension runs only on YouTube watch pages. It cannot see other sites, and it does not record what you watch unless you create a pin from it.
- It does not sell your data, and it does not serve advertising.
- It does not read your other browser data — no history, no bookmarks, no passwords, no cookies from other sites.
Where it is stored
Pins for signed-in accounts are stored with Google Firebase in the United States (region us-central1). Illustrated cards are stored in Google Cloud Storage in the same region. If you use Pinpoint without an account, your pins stay in your own browser's local storage and are not uploaded anywhere.
Who else sees it
- Google Gemini receives the caption text of the range you marked, or the video's address, in order to produce the summary or the card. It does not receive your email address or your account identifier.
- Google Firebase hosts the database, file storage, authentication and server code.
- Payment processors. If you subscribe, Razorpay or Stripe handles the payment. We never see or store your card details.
- Anyone you give a link to. A pin or a board is private until you publish it. Publishing creates a public page that anyone with the address can read. You can revoke it at any time, and revoking removes the page.
That is the complete list. Pinpoint has no analytics tracker, no advertising network and no data broker relationships.
Using your own key
If you supply your own Gemini API key, Pinpoint calls Google directly from your browser. In that mode your pins stay on your device, nothing is written to our database, and your key is stored encrypted in your browser and never transmitted to us.
How long it is kept
Pins are kept until you delete them. Deleting a pin removes it, its card and its search index entry. Deleting your account removes everything associated with it. Credit history is kept for as long as the account exists, because it is the record that explains your balance.
Your choices
- Export everything. Every plan can export pins as Markdown, at any time, without asking us.
- Delete any pin from the panel, permanently.
- Delete your account by writing to support@pin-point.in. We will remove your data and confirm when it is done.
- Use Pinpoint without an account at all, in which case nothing leaves your browser except the caption text needed to write the summary.
Children
Pinpoint is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who receives it, the date at the top will change and the extension will say so before the change takes effect.
